Bricks and rain and sagging floors

So the rain began and sent off the bricklayers! Before that happened our builder was pointing out one of the (many) pitfalls to renovating an old house. Check out the wooden beam above the existing piers - it slopes up and down just where our doorway into the kitchen is going. We'll need some special planing so that our cafe doors can both hang straight AND open inwards and outwards. Fingers crossed.

All this came the day after the digger broke the sewerage pipe. But it wasn't his fault. Who would have known that the builder from our previous renovation had run the new sewerage pipe towards the backyard and then out to the road? Weird!
